Gladiator Hulk Revealed at SDCC 2017
Isn’t this just glorious? This…is a thing of beauty. I have always wanted a Hot Toys Hulk. I may skip ALL the rest of the Gladiator Hulk figures and get just this ONE.
Honestly it’s a toss up between this one and the Mezco Hulk announced. Basically it will depend on final cost, the final “real-world” product (cause the street item doesn’t always match the show item), and of course my budget 😦 .
Figure seems to come with an interchangeable head without helmet and a couple pairs of hands. Most likely the figure will sit in the $400 range.
But come on…look at that skin. Look at that glorious armor! The weapons! The real-hair mohawk on the helmet.
This is something incredible.
UPDATE (7/27/17): Pre-orders for this figure are now live on Sideshow’s site. Grab him while you can!
If you ever find yourself wanting to collect Heroclix just for aesthetic value I would highly recommend this piece. This is the Red Hulk #050 released in 2010 for the Web of Spider-Man set. The detail in this tiny figure is amazing. Just about every taught muscle and skin wrinkle is featured. It makes me very sad that as of this writing there isn’t a green version that meets the level of detail in this guy. Though there is a gray one of mention. The pose is nice too, but it’s hard to get a good look at him since hes crouched very low.
The figure is Super Rare leading to a typically higher price, but have dropped in recent years. I bought mine for around $20+, but eBay (as of this writing) typically has him for around $12-20.
I feel a great disturbance in the force. As if a thousand wallets suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silent. I feel something INCREDIBLE has happened.
A Planet Hulk build-a-figure has been announced for the new Thor movie toy line. I have never done a build-a-figure before, but I think that time has come. See further details here. A gamma shout-out to JadeGiant.com for informing me.
To make this figure will set you back around $120. Start saving now as they should be hitting stores in the Fall in time for the movie.
Here is our first look at one of the new toys being sold in time for the Ragnarok movie releasing in November. One would think they will be released in late October in time for the premier. He will retail for $34.99
It appears to be one of those large talking Marvel figures you see in stores. They remind me of a walkie-talkie. Except this Hulk version has armor. It also seems it can “talk” with the Thor figure being released at the same time. Does this mean Hulk will be a chatty-Cathy in this film? I hope they don’t make him like the Hulk in Agents of S.M.A.S.H!
See original article here.
I’ll be keeping an eye open for him in the Fall.
I decided to handle both these figures at the same time since they are pretty much the same sculpt. As you can see the one on the left is a normal looking Hulk and the one on the right has robotic components.
The Robot Hulk figure was released first in 2011 in the Incredible Hulk set. The normal Hulk was later released in 2012 as part of the Galactic Guardians Set.
These probably represent the most detailed Green Hulk heroclix you will find with few exceptions. They have nicely sculpted muscles with a very basic paint job. The robotic parts seem more or less glued on extras which is why it’s odd the robot sculpt was released prior to the normal one. Their faces are kinda squished in there to handle so much detail.
The Robot Hulk is a common item while the normal Hulk is rated as ‘Rare’. Both are fairly cheap to buy ranging around $2-4 dollars.
This Hulk heroclix was released in 2012 under Marvel’s Heroclix Tenth Anniversary set. The figure is clearly in reference to the Hulk when he first changes and seeks to escape the military bunker holding him in Incredible Hulk #1.
The figure has decent sculpting, though the face leaves much to be desired. The pose is nice as well. The figure is a common rarity so its typically cheap and easy to find. Typically costs $2-5.
An easy addition to any Heroclix collection.
Each day brings us closer and closer to November 3rd.The day of Ragnarok. And slowly details and photos are leaking regarding the film. Recently images surfaced of the new Lego mini figs. In fact it seems loose figures have begun making it onto eBay with large prices from China.
Feel free to look online for more photos regarding Thor and whatnot. Our focus here is the Hulk. Looking at the Gladiator Hulk mini-figure I realized I missed out on another new feature of this Hulk. His tattoos/body paint. If you see the artwork leaked some months back you can kind of see the marks but they blend in with the highlights. I missed them. But with this latest figure it confirms the basic new look for the Hulk. The armor, of course, being expected given the photos from SDCC.
Each new reveal makes me even more pumped for the new movie. Given there is so much Hulk in this it actually makes me sad this movie doesn’t have the dual title of Thor & Hulk: Ragnarok! Alas, we Hulk fans will take what we can get. I just hope they do the character justice. Especially if they plan for him to open his mouth in this installment.
