Attention Hulk fans…this is one figure you DO NOT want to miss out on.
Released in October 2017 is the Disney Store Exclusive Planet Hulk figure. And boy is he gorgeous.
Admittedly I have not collected many Marvel Select figures, but this has got to be the best Marvel Select Hulk figure, if not the best general Marvel Select figure, ever. The attention to detail is amazing. The paint job is awesome (with some slight exceptions). The sculpting is almost spot-on as well.
It IS the definitive Planet Hulk (Green Scar) figure we have been waiting for. This makes the Marvel Legends Planet Hulk figure look like a cheap knock-off by comparison.
This figure looks like an almost exact copy to the Hulk in the comics. Some small design changes are present, but its amazing nonetheless. The sculpting is near perfect. My only gripe is the eyes. They seem a bit doe-eyed to me, but easily remedied by lowering his head down and letting the visor cover them. It’s really more bad-ass this way.
The paint job captures so many little details and really brings this character to life. Only in a few spots on the armor is it a bit sloppy.
The figure’s armor is amazing. I especially love his silver plated arm, complete with spikes. The shield is thankfully included, along with an wicked axe! I think this is the first Hulk figure to include weapons or any sort of add-ons.
This figure is also huge! And heavy. He commands quite a presence when displayed. This does lead to my only other big issue which is the articulation. Due to his bulk and the armor he is limited in his movements. But the poses you can pull off are really cool. This Hulk is quite a display piece. From a distance it looks more like a statue rather then a “toy”.
This figure is only available from the Disney store for $30. So forget asking your local comic shop for it. If you are unlucky enough to not be near a Disney store you will have to shell out $45 or more on Ebay, but other options may exist.
In short, if you are a Hulk fan…BUY THIS! You will be so happy with it guarding your comics.
Another clip from Thor: Ragnarok has been released onto Youtube. This time it features Korg, the Kronan, who would be one of Hulk’s warbound in the comics and animated feature.
At first I was excited…but then I watched the clip and I thought “this has to be a joke?” Korg sounds like nothing you would expect. I always imagined him with this low, gravelly voice (pun intended). The reason this worked is cause Miek was supposed to have the weaker, high pitched voice. It was a balance of character persona’s.
But this Korg sounds like a smaller, normal guy. I guess it’s supposed to be funny. His voice not matching his body…but come on! I have been extremely excited for this film, but the more I see of the comedy I feel like they turned what could possibly be Hulk’s shining moment…into a big joke.
I’m really not happy or impressed with this choice. Now maybe I am seeing this out of context. Perhaps there is more then what I am seeing. But at this moment…I am starting to have some doubts about the directing choices for this film.
I hope I’m wrong. See the clip below and you be the judge.
In honor of Thor: Ragnarok coming soon….
I present the Planet Hulk Event Dial Heroclix. This limited edition dial includes not one, not two, but FOUR characters…all featured in the Planet Hulk storyline. The characters being Green Scar (Hulk), Korg, Miek, and the Silver Savage (Silver Surfer).
This item was released for the Marvel Mutations and Monsters booster set in or around 2007. It also seems these figures were produced separately as well for their own heroclix.
This is one of the coolest heroclix items I own. I managed to snag it at a comic convention for about $20. If you love the Hulk, or just enjoy the Planet Hulk story-line I feel this item is worth it for the shelf. The sculpting and poses are just about the best you could ask for. It’s also a fairly size-able piece. So you need room for it.
Current Ebay prices have it priced around $20-35.
So it seems in further celebration (and to continue sucking every dollar out of us Hulk fans) of Thor: Ragnarok, a number of theatre concessions have been revealed. The highlights being the Hulk popcorn bucket (I want) and the Hammer drink cup (yeah I’ll have that too). The drink toppers are kinda cool too! I hope theatres near me get these! Feast your eyes! November is still too far away.
Oh…and in case you missed this…yeah….seems the first official trailer for Ragnarok dropped. Yeah…no big deal.
At least now I have something else I can watch on repeat aside from that teaser from April. So yeah…check it out…I guess.
I am so excited!!!
In the wake of Thor: Ragnarok premiering November 3, 2017 it seems Marvel is going to keep the fires of this movie’s hype…raging. Coming in September 2017 will be a digital exclusive series premiering Hulk and Thor. There will be six issues released monthly. And if I understand correctly, eventually being released to print as a whole collection.
The series is titled ‘Thor & Hulk: Champions of the Universe‘. Not much is known of the synopsis other then an elder of the universe wants to fight Earth’s strongest hero. So, of course, Thor or Hulk cannot decide for themselves. This in turn compels them to complete a series of challenges to prove which is the strongest and worthy to fight.
The team responsible for this new comic are Jeremy Whitley, Simone Buanfantino and Alti Firmansyah.
Sure, a mashup with Hulk and Thor is great. I’m just happy I can get a new comic with the proper, true Hulk in it.
Gladiator Hulk Revealed at SDCC 2017
Isn’t this just glorious? This…is a thing of beauty. I have always wanted a Hot Toys Hulk. I may skip ALL the rest of the Gladiator Hulk figures and get just this ONE.
Honestly it’s a toss up between this one and the Mezco Hulk announced. Basically it will depend on final cost, the final “real-world” product (cause the street item doesn’t always match the show item), and of course my budget 😦 .
Figure seems to come with an interchangeable head without helmet and a couple pairs of hands. Most likely the figure will sit in the $400 range.
But come on…look at that skin. Look at that glorious armor! The weapons! The real-hair mohawk on the helmet.
This is something incredible.
UPDATE (7/27/17): Pre-orders for this figure are now live on Sideshow’s site. Grab him while you can!
