My Hulk is back and you’re gonna be in trouble.
(Hey, la-di-la, my Hulk is back.)
When you see him comin’, better cut out on the double.
(Hey, la-di-la, my Hulk is back.) Yes, it is true. Hulk and Bruce are back from the dead. And after only four months!
This story occurs in this months and next months issue of Uncanny Avengers #15 and #16 (released Oct. 12th and November 9th). Details are somewhat limited on what brought this about. From what I understand the ninja assassin group known as ‘The Hand’ will use their ancient magic to resurrect Bruce and thus the Hulk back to life. This also in effect gives them control of the green beast for their own ends.
I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand I am very happy he’s back. I mean this is the original green man himself. The incredible Hulk. Not some “totally awesome” poser.
On the other hand though it totally demeans the character’s death in the first place. And by extension weakens the overall impact of any future deaths Marvel has planned. They either should have waited longer (at least a year) or figured out some other way to do it. Like maybe a series where the Hulk’s closest friend reminisce on his past actions or most memorable stories. Maybe give their unique perspective on how they saw him during those times. A highlight reel of sorts. It would have been a great way to introduce the best of the Hulk to new readers before bringing him back officially.
In any case mean green is back and who knows how a recently dead Hulk will react. Pet Cemetery comes to mind…. Now he’s back and things will be fine.
(Hey, la-di-la, my Hulk is back.)
You’re gonna be sorry you were ever born.
(Hey, la-di-la, my Hulk is back.)
A record smashing event has occurred in the month of September 2016. A vintage comics seller, ComicConnect, sold a copy of Incredible Hulk #1 for an INCREDIBLE $375,000! Created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby this sale sets a new record for this key issue.
This copy was appraised as a CGC 9.2 grade, making it one of only four copies in the world at this grade. Previous sales of copies at this grade reached as high as $320,000 back in 2014 and $326,000 just two months prior to this record breaker.
Only one copy exists at a higher CGC grade of 9.4 and most likely will not be up for sale for quite some time.
Typically a high grade copy of 9.0 to 7.0 sells for about $70,000. If you go to sites like eBay you can locate copies around CGC 4.0 and below for around $10,000 to maybe $4,000.
Is this record sale a sign of the Hulk’s increased popularity? Or simply a rare instance of a bidder war out of control? In any case I wish I had the funds to afford a tore up copy of this book. This book is the holy grail of my collection and most likely I’ll never have it.
Given the lack of news I was beginning to think the Hulk’s new animated film ‘Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell’ was merely rumor.
But finally some concrete evidence of the film is coming to light, in the best way possible…a premier!
‘Where Monsters Dwell’ is scheduled, courtesy of Marvel Animation, for a special viewing at NYCC on October 9th from 10:30 am to 12.
The film is being described as “spooky, action packed” and “family friendly”. So as I expected they are probably going the monster route in response to Halloween right around the corner. But the family friendly part is bit off-putting considering previous information described the film as more “adult oriented”. So I’m not sure where it sits in terms of content.
The news has also re-confirmed the inclusion of Dr. Strange and the Howling Commandos. In addition it has been mentioned they will be battling the supervillain Nightmare (shown below).Given the amount of time for the viewing one can assume the film will be anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes along.
This news has me slightly confused as to the tone of this film, but nonetheless I am very excited. Hopefully they will announce a release date after the premier. Perhaps even a teaser trailer. TRICK-OR-TREAT!!!
For additional info see my first post regarding the film HERE.
For the report this information comes from see HERE.
San Diego Comic Con is over but it has left us with plenty to be excited about. In addition to the super sweet Gladiator armor for the Hulk (to be featured in Thor: Ragnarok) seems a new animated Hulk movie has been announced.
Due to arrive in Fall of this year, ‘Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell’ is to feature our green goliath co-starring alongside Dr. Strange. No doubt in order to drum up excitement for the new Dr. Strange movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Given the film is releasing in November I am going to predict ‘Monsters Dwell’ will release in October to coincide with the Halloween season.
The Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D.
To further support my prediction, Strange and Hulk will be joined by the Howling Commandos. This name is attributed to a few military groups within the Marvel Universe. Most notably they were featured more or less in the first Captain America movie. However, the report given on this film details the words “monster team”. So I am assuming its the more ferocious team shown here.
If this wasn’t exciting enough it’s been promised this film will be more “adult-oriented”. In such the way it is being compared to DC’s soon to be released “Batman: The Killing Joke” movie. This alone is great because after having to deal with the absurdity that was the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. I am so ready for Hulk to go nuts!
With all this said I think we Hulk fans have something to look forward to. I know I’m excited and I’m ready to get SMASHED!
Latest Update – RELEASE DATE AND SNEAK PEEK – 10/10/16 (first released clip)

It’s done. For so long and so many have attempted this. A few times before many thought they were successful. But it seems it has happened for certain this time. I won’t go into details as to not ruin it for fans. You are welcome to discover it for yourself online as it’s already being talked about.
But this means the end of an era. Serious changes are being made at Marvel and the latest news means they are serious (but of course it can be undone as it has been done before with other characters). However, if this is permanent, it is a killing blow for old fans of the Hulk as well.
I have not been particularly impressed by the “totally awesome” Hulk. I had hoped things might turn around during Civil War 2. But instead, inside issue #3 of Civil War 2, the opposite has occurred.
I will now have to rely on my hopes in Marvel’s future films and less so in their comics.
The Hulk is dead….LONG LIVE THE HULK!
Coming in November 2017 is Thor: Ragnarok. Now yes I do like Thor, but he’s not the reason I am going. I am going for Hulk. And recent news has made me even more excited. Thor’s next movie will feature ALOT of the Hulk. Or at least more then in previous films.
Mark Ruffalo is quoted as saying “I think it will be smashing. The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk hulks out. Hulkier and bigger.”
I am so stoked for this. I was admittedly let down by the amount of screen time for Hulk in the last Avengers film, specifically in the last battle. Also they removed much of the fun that Hulk had in the first film. I don’t mind a darker Hulk/Banner story but Hulk is in a sensitive time now. He needs to grow a following in the cinematic Universe. Keep him as fun as possible while sticking to the source material. The first Avenger’s movie did that.
So here I am waiting patiently for next Fall when I can once again don my Hulk fists.
Well…I’m ready to get Smashed. Are you?
I don’t normally post anything regarding Loot Crate because usually it doesn’t have anything Hulk related. Well this month was completely different. Given the theme and the inclusion of Hulk in this month’s promotions I was sure something Gamma Green would be included and I was so very right.
Items included this month:
- Dragonball Keychain plushie
- Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitt
- Q Fig Hulk Figure
- Battleborn Lootpin
- Warcraft T-Shirt (not pictured)
While I find the Thanos Oven Mitt to be awesome and the plushie Dragonball to be cute. I think we all know the clear winner here…The Q Fig Hulk figure!!
I was so excited to lift up the T-Shirt out of the box and find this little figure staring back at me with such menace. I really enjoyed the Deadpool figure released back in the February Crate (Theme: Dead), but getting a Hulk figure was so unexpected. They look great on the shelf next to each other. In every crate also comes a magazine going into detail on each of the items along with other information related to the month’s theme. There was a section briefly exploring a handful of the Hulk’s multiple incarnations (Prof. Hulk, Grey Hulk, etc).
This figure is based on the design from ‘Age of Ultron’. He has the stylish Avenger’s pants and the more muted green skin. It stand about 4 inches tall. Check out the pictures below. Another WIN for the collection!
