In the wake of Thor: Ragnarok premiering November 3, 2017 it seems Marvel is going to keep the fires of this movie’s hype…raging. Coming in September 2017 will be a digital exclusive series premiering Hulk and Thor. There will be six issues released monthly. And if I understand correctly, eventually being released to print as a whole collection.
The series is titled ‘Thor & Hulk: Champions of the Universe‘. Not much is known of the synopsis other then an elder of the universe wants to fight Earth’s strongest hero. So, of course, Thor or Hulk cannot decide for themselves. This in turn compels them to complete a series of challenges to prove which is the strongest and worthy to fight.
The team responsible for this new comic are Jeremy Whitley, Simone Buanfantino and Alti Firmansyah.
Sure, a mashup with Hulk and Thor is great. I’m just happy I can get a new comic with the proper, true Hulk in it.
Gladiator Hulk Revealed at SDCC 2017
Isn’t this just glorious? This…is a thing of beauty. I have always wanted a Hot Toys Hulk. I may skip ALL the rest of the Gladiator Hulk figures and get just this ONE.
Honestly it’s a toss up between this one and the Mezco Hulk announced. Basically it will depend on final cost, the final “real-world” product (cause the street item doesn’t always match the show item), and of course my budget 😦 .
Figure seems to come with an interchangeable head without helmet and a couple pairs of hands. Most likely the figure will sit in the $400 range.
But come on…look at that skin. Look at that glorious armor! The weapons! The real-hair mohawk on the helmet.
This is something incredible.
UPDATE (7/27/17): Pre-orders for this figure are now live on Sideshow’s site. Grab him while you can!
Images have hit the internet showing some more toys related to the new Thor movie. They can be seen here. Included in these images are figures depicting multiple characters, but more importantly we get our first look at Korg and Miek! Based on these toys I have taken the liberty to draw what the characters might look like in the movie. This is a fairly quick sketch and given how stylized the figures ares, not to mention it’s of them at only one angle, the sketch is rather basic.
However, we can see what details the designers decided to keep, and update, in regards to the Hulk’s warbound. Korg looks very much the same if not perhaps a bit older and of course he’s gray, not orange. Thus matching him up to the other Kronan witnessed in Thor: Dark World. He also has a bit more armor in keeping with how much more “dressed up” the Hulk is.
The biggest surprise is Miek. In the comics and animated movie he looks like an anthropomorphoid Ant with two legs and four arms. Thin and obviously very frail. At least at first. Here the designers have taken that bug idea but went in the direction of a worm or beetle. Except this little worm is equipped with a mobile mech-suit complete with large blades.
Part of me is sad they diverted so much from the original design. But at the same time I’m kind of digging this new look. This could provide other possibilities along the lines of him being a sort of Rocket Raccoon-type. Miek could be the withdrawn tech geek of the group. This bug form is also very larvae-like. Perhaps this caterpillar might become a butterfly someday…wink wink.
In any case this continues to excite me as to how they are able to further re-invent the world of Sakaar. November can’t come soon enough.
If you are not aware Marvel is introducing a new series called Legacy in order to “honor” the characters of the past with the use of their newer counterparts.
I am not reading the other titles, but in the case of the Hulk they are crapping all over his legacy in my opinion. They have decided with the introduction of the TA (totally awesome) Hulk visiting the Planet Hulk storyline to renumber the issue and rename it Incredible Hulk 709.
This is clearly another attempt to make this character “a thing”. Frankly I find this move confusing for any new Hulk fans coming onboard after seeing the Avengers movies. This is NOT THE SAME HULK. He is a poser.
I was willing to be ok with this new Hulk in operating under his own title, but for Marvel to come along and give him the moniker of “incredible” is a huge load of crap.
They never tried doing this with the Red Hulk. I am not a huge fan of the Red Hulk but he is his own character. He operates fine on his own and was never used to muscle in one the original Hulks position. I actually enjoy the Red Hulk more then this TA Hulk.
I am not reading the other titles with the new characters so I don’t know how they are ripping on their Legacy characters with this new series. But speaking as a Hulk fan I am truly disappointed with Marvel. Once again you have lost out on money from me. I have since even given up on their new She-Hulk series. Seems the only good Hulk story is Old Man Logan at this time.
Get your act together Marvel. Seriously.
I feel a great disturbance in the force. As if a thousand wallets suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silent. I feel something INCREDIBLE has happened.
A Planet Hulk build-a-figure has been announced for the new Thor movie toy line. I have never done a build-a-figure before, but I think that time has come. See further details here. A gamma shout-out to JadeGiant.com for informing me.
To make this figure will set you back around $120. Start saving now as they should be hitting stores in the Fall in time for the movie.
Here is our first look at one of the new toys being sold in time for the Ragnarok movie releasing in November. One would think they will be released in late October in time for the premier. He will retail for $34.99
It appears to be one of those large talking Marvel figures you see in stores. They remind me of a walkie-talkie. Except this Hulk version has armor. It also seems it can “talk” with the Thor figure being released at the same time. Does this mean Hulk will be a chatty-Cathy in this film? I hope they don’t make him like the Hulk in Agents of S.M.A.S.H!
See original article here.
I’ll be keeping an eye open for him in the Fall.
Continually I am blown away by Marvel’s reveals from the new Thor movie. And this reveal is no exception. Feast your eyes on Hulk’s BED!
He sleeps in a freaking skull!! So B.A. I so badly want this to be something I can get from IKEA.
This item was put on display with a bunch of other MCU props at a Museum exhibit in Australia.
Once again I wait patiently (fists clenched) for November 3rd.
