In the wake of Thor: Ragnarok premiering November 3, 2017 it seems Marvel is going to keep the fires of this movie’s hype…raging. Coming in September 2017 will be a digital exclusive series premiering Hulk and Thor. There will be six issues released monthly. And if I understand correctly, eventually being released to print as a whole collection.
The series is titled ‘Thor & Hulk: Champions of the Universe‘. Not much is known of the synopsis other then an elder of the universe wants to fight Earth’s strongest hero. So, of course, Thor or Hulk cannot decide for themselves. This in turn compels them to complete a series of challenges to prove which is the strongest and worthy to fight.
The team responsible for this new comic are Jeremy Whitley, Simone Buanfantino and Alti Firmansyah.
Sure, a mashup with Hulk and Thor is great. I’m just happy I can get a new comic with the proper, true Hulk in it.
I must have missed the teaser but it seems Marvel is debuting a new series in the summer titled ‘Generations’. Recent news broke regarding the details of the story and for us Hulk fans it is very exciting news.
This new series will involve 10 one-shot issues. Each issue will be devoted to a particular character and his/her old and new incarnations. For example Wolverine and X-23 or IronMan’s Tony Stark and Riri Williams. And it’s been confirmed that Hulk will not be left out of this event. An issue is promised to team up both Hulks; the incredible Bruce and the awesome Amadeus. Hence the title of ‘Generations’.
It has not been revealed how characters like Logan or Bruce will be resurrected for this event except the Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso is quoted mentioning an “ingenious device”. Is this time travel? An alternate dimension?
In any case I am excited to see the old Hulk back (and not just as a samurai zombie). I unfortunately will have to endure the new Hulk being present. But perhaps this issue will help me appreciate him a bit more. We will see.
Keep your ears open for more news in the coming months. The first issue should drop in July 2017 and wrap up the series in September.
Each day brings us closer and closer to November 3rd.The day of Ragnarok. And slowly details and photos are leaking regarding the film. Recently images surfaced of the new Lego mini figs. In fact it seems loose figures have begun making it onto eBay with large prices from China.
Feel free to look online for more photos regarding Thor and whatnot. Our focus here is the Hulk. Looking at the Gladiator Hulk mini-figure I realized I missed out on another new feature of this Hulk. His tattoos/body paint. If you see the artwork leaked some months back you can kind of see the marks but they blend in with the highlights. I missed them. But with this latest figure it confirms the basic new look for the Hulk. The armor, of course, being expected given the photos from SDCC.
Each new reveal makes me even more pumped for the new movie. Given there is so much Hulk in this it actually makes me sad this movie doesn’t have the dual title of Thor & Hulk: Ragnarok! Alas, we Hulk fans will take what we can get. I just hope they do the character justice. Especially if they plan for him to open his mouth in this installment.
Don’t you hate it when the elderly get angry about something? Get off my lawn. My food is cold! My back hurts! Well what if they could throw a bus or cut you in half before you could blink? Well that’s what’s happening. Marvel’s grumpiest old men are going to duke it out. And who other could they be then Old Man Logan and the Maestro.
That’s right. It’s been confirmed that in the future issue of Old Man Logan #25 the scrapper with claws will encounter the green king himself. The Maestro decides to journey back in time to present day and take over the Hulk clan that Logan had decimated in his earlier adventure. This should prove to be a challenge for the retired Wolverine as the Maestro has even given the original Hulk issues on multiple occasions.
This story is also meant to begin the start of a new creative team taking over the title going forward. Being a Maestro fan this is definitely a comic I’ll be picking up when it comes out.
The issue should be released in June 2017.
Dropping today (1/27/17) a new trailer teasing a new Marvel Avengers game featuring Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk! The theme of the trailer was reassembly and needing heroes. For a brief moment you see a pair of broken glasses and hear the Hulk’s distant roar.
What’s exciting about this is the game developers involved. We are talking the talents of studios behind Final Fantasy and Deus Ex making this game. Could it be we are getting a fully fleshed out Avengers game and not just some Lego kiddy adventure?
If so I am so pumped to play as the Hulk! I would love another stand alone Hulk game but I’ll certainly take this in the meantime. Check out the trailer below. Hopefully we get more details soon.
San Diego Comic Con is over but it has left us with plenty to be excited about. In addition to the super sweet Gladiator armor for the Hulk (to be featured in Thor: Ragnarok) seems a new animated Hulk movie has been announced.
Due to arrive in Fall of this year, ‘Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell’ is to feature our green goliath co-starring alongside Dr. Strange. No doubt in order to drum up excitement for the new Dr. Strange movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Given the film is releasing in November I am going to predict ‘Monsters Dwell’ will release in October to coincide with the Halloween season.
The Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D.
To further support my prediction, Strange and Hulk will be joined by the Howling Commandos. This name is attributed to a few military groups within the Marvel Universe. Most notably they were featured more or less in the first Captain America movie. However, the report given on this film details the words “monster team”. So I am assuming its the more ferocious team shown here.
If this wasn’t exciting enough it’s been promised this film will be more “adult-oriented”. In such the way it is being compared to DC’s soon to be released “Batman: The Killing Joke” movie. This alone is great because after having to deal with the absurdity that was the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. I am so ready for Hulk to go nuts!
With all this said I think we Hulk fans have something to look forward to. I know I’m excited and I’m ready to get SMASHED!

So it’s been confirmed the new Hulk will be Amadeus Cho. The whiz kid seen before hanging around Bruce Banner. I am not really surprised by this since the idea was offered weeks ago. Honestly, I don’t like it. And it’s not even the fact that this is a kid or he’s Korean. It’s the fact they have removed all the pathos and depth of the original character. They also seem to have given him a device that allows him to change at will. So no more anger. They have basically stripped him of the things that attracted me to the character in the first place.
Now I know this is Marvel re-inventing itself and they are trying to be more diverse and make the Hulk more marketable. But they seem to have butchered this character more then any of the others. I’m actually pretty disappointed.
However, I will reserve final judgement till after I read a couple issues. I will at least plan to buy the first issue and go from there. I know the Hulk has gone through many iterations in order to keep the story fresh and this isn’t the first time people have been upset with Marvel’s direction with the character. Banner isn’t gone and things could always switch back to him in time.
So I will wait, but as of now I am very concerned.
